RESEARCH OVERVIEW
NPC-QIC RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS
The Research and Publications Committee is responsible for monitoring research projects that utilize NPC-QIC registry data. The committee is responsible for reviewing research proposals, abstracts, and manuscripts submitted by members of the network, providing design and analyses feedback to network manuscript authors, and making recommendations regarding acceptance of research proposals.
NPC-QIC RESEARCH EXPLAINED
Since October 2013, parent members of the Research and Publications Committee help identify appropriate manuscripts that are of interest to parents for creation of a “Research Explained” summary. The Research Explained summaries explain medical research in straightforward lay terms and discuss the significance of research findings. For example, the February 2015 Research Explained described a journal article that children with HLHS have impaired neurodevelopment by age 3 compared to the general population. These summaries reflect the collaboration between families and the cardiology community.
